Fandom Friday – High School DxD

About 5 years ago now one of my friends sent me a picture of some anime girl and she had huge boobs. I was surprised and not that familiar with anime. But I was curious as to what this anime was. He replied High School DxD. I was like okay… and went on with my day. I never really thought about this anime after that. Expect when someone who would ask me if I had seen it. I would tell them that I have heard of it but decided not to watch it.

So now the year is 2019…and my boyfriend was looking for more anime to watch and found this and told me I needed to see it. I have to say I hate it when he is right. It took me a very long time to watch this anime as no one ever said what it was about or really what they liked about it.

So here is some Plot Information from Fandom and then I get to tell you why I personally like it

Plot Information

The story revolves around Issei Hyoudou, a lecherous high school student attending Kuoh Academy, a former all-girls school that has recently turned co-ed. He lives a peaceful life with his equally-perverted friends, Matsuda and Motohama, until he is asked on a date by a girl named Yuuma Amano. At the conclusion of the date, Issei is brought to a local park, where Yuuma asks him if he wants to know what her wish is. Under the impression of receiving a kiss from the girl, Issei is shocked when Yuuma whispers the words “Can you die for me?” and transforms into a Fallen Angel. Issei is brutally attacked and killed by Yuuma, his last sight being a glimpse of red hair in front of him.

The next day, Issei wakes up to find himself alive, leading him to assume the events that transpired yesterday were all but a bad dream. Later, after spending the night watching some porno DVDs with his friends, Issei walks home and finds himself in the same place where Yuuma had killed him. He is then attacked and wounded by a male Fallen Angel Dohnaseek until a crimson-haired woman named Rias Gremory steps in and saves him, just before Issei loses consciousness from the light spear that was thrown by the Fallen Angel.

The next morning, Issei, under the assumption the events that occurred yesterday were all just a dream again, wakes up to find a naked Rias in his bed. Rias reveals her identity as a Devil to Issei, and claims that she has reincarnated him into a Devil, thus beginning his new life as a Devil servant in the Occult Research Club.

So why do I like this anime so much?

Because its just so funny. I have never laughed so hard watching an anime! I have seen many anime but have never laughed so much watching one. I think my favorite thing about this show is that Rias is so confident and sexy while being sweet and caring yet will totally kick your ass.

 In the episodes that I have seen I have watched her deal with Issei and his inability to use his powers or even be able to think for more than two seconds without picturing herself or one of the other girls naked.

Considering he is a total perv this is to be expected. But he does show that underneath that completely depraved mind, he has a heart and will do anything to make Rias happy and to win her approval. He also shows that he cares about the team or other members of the Occult Research Club.

Issei doesn’t get beat up as much after Asia Argento shows up with her adorable Habit and peaceful nature oh…and the Twilight Healing that she possesses. I think that having someone who counts on him makes him grow up a little at this point. For him at this point it turns into more that just making Rias proud. He realizes that he has a responsibility to Asia and that he needs to step up.

I really like their relationship cause even though he really wants her body, he does try to stay respectful and she tries to not freak out and cry every single time that she sees him look at another girl. I do wonder if they will get together though.

Speaking of the future… I cant wait to finish the first season and find out what happens next. I don’t want to give any spoilers… cause I want you to watch the show.

So if you are looking for a new anime, please do something that I didn’t do and give it a chance I can guarantee that you will laugh and that the underlying plot will totally take you by surprise.
